Brett F. St. Amand SALES INTEGRITY INFORMATION Bloodstock Agent Code of Conduct | Seller | TOBA Sales Integrity Program Brett got his start many years ago. When at the young age of ten-years old and growing up on Rodeheavers Boys Ranch near Ocala, Florida. He was first exposed to Thoroughbreds. Under the tooliage of the late Clayton O’Quinn of Gross Point Stud Farm in Ocala.
I raised my first Thoroughbreds, two weanlings picked out of a group and raised with daily care until selling as yearlings at Ocala Breeder’s the following year. When I graduated from High School I joined the US Army 1982-1988, then in 1991 when I attended my first horse race at LongAcres in Washington, that is when I got the bug to be in the Business. So I became a part-time groom and bought my first racehorse and enjoyed the success of winning and even designed my racing silks. I later in 1993 took out a trainer’s license after working for the likes of Frank Lucurelli, Jose Corrales, Jack Steiner and finally Ron Glatt. I learned a lot from those trainer’s each with different training style’s. In May just prior to my retirement from US military in June 2002, I formed a bloodstock company, St. Amand Bloodstock and have been very successful in a short time. I have spotted talent the likes of…. MINESHAFT G1, SMARTY JONES G1 , BIG DRAMA G1, COFFEE BOY G2, MAMBO MEISTER G2, SAINTLY LOOK G3, CAIXA ELECTRONICA G3 and many others early in their racing careers……
I go the extra mile to research talent high and low to find that Diamond in the Rough…. A lot of the research comes from reading the daily race charts from Daily Racing Form as well as using Equibase, Equineline, Bloodhorse and Thoroughbred Times to keep up to date. I attend as many of the Auctions as possible. Keeneland, Fasig-Tipton, Barretts as well as other sales. Buying Thoroughbreds has become more of a challenge with a lot of the competition coming from Pinhookers. In my travels I have visited many farms in Kentucky namely: Adena Springs, Airdrie Stud, Darley, Gainesway, Three Chimneys… So let me assist you in the future….
